Who is responsible for your data?
Handyman Algarve, operating this website, handymanalgarve.pt, is responsible for the personal data you submit here. For anything in this policy, contact us through the quote form on the contact page.
What we collect, and why
When you request a quote we collect only what is needed to prepare it and carry out the job: the service and area, your description of the problem, how urgent it is, your name, and one way to reach you (phone or email). We do not ask for anything beyond that, and we do not collect data from you when you only browse the site.
Who your data is shared with
Your request details are shared with the professional assigned to your job, so they can prepare and carry out the work. Your name, phone number and address reach them once a visit is agreed, and not before.
Three companies process data on our behalf, and no others: Cloudflare, which hosts this website, the private system we run the work in, and the databases behind both, all in the European Union; Zoho (European datacentre), which runs the info@handymanalgarve.pt mailbox we answer you from; and Anthropic, whose model helps us write a first draft of a reply. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else. If that list ever changes, this page changes first.
About that last one, because it is the newest and the one worth being plain about: a draft is written by a person before it is sent to you, and what the model is given has your phone number, your email address, your street address and your surname taken out of it first. It is told the service, the town, your first name and what has been said so far. It never sends anything and it never sees the rest.
How long we keep it
Long enough to do the work and to answer for it afterwards, and no longer:
- a request that never became a job: 12 months from the last time anything happened on it;
- a customer and their jobs: 36 months after the last one closes;
- messages, photos and documents: with the job or the request they belong to;
- our internal record of who changed what: 36 months, with personal details already masked;
- accounting records, which carry no customer details at all: kept.
When that time is up, or when you ask us to delete your data, we empty everything that could identify you and keep only the shape of the record: the date, the service and the area. That is what lets us count the work we did without holding on to you.
Your rights
You can ask at any time what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We can send you everything we hold as a file. Deletion covers our own records, the photos and documents we stored, and anything sent to the professional who worked on your job: we write to them, they are required to delete their copy, and we keep asking until each of them confirms in writing that they have. Send the request through the quote form and we honor it within the timelines set by the GDPR. You also have the right to complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Quote requests are protected against automated abuse, and abuse records store IP addresses only in a scrambled (hashed) form.
No tracking
This site runs no advertising trackers and no analytics that identify you. See the cookie note for the full picture.
