Fill a bucket with pool water, stand it on a step so it is partly submerged, mark the level inside the bucket and on the pool wall, then leave the pool running normally for two days. If both levels drop the same, it is evaporation. If the pool drops more than the bucket, water is going somewhere else and it is worth having the pool and its pipework checked.
Testing and correcting the water chemistry, emptying skimmer and pump baskets, brushing the waterline and any algae spots, netting and vacuuming as needed, backwashing or cleaning the filter, and checking that pump, timer and any salt cell are actually doing what they should.
